Welcome to Yorkshire Folk Choir
Enjoy singing? Love folk music? Come and sing with us.
Yorkshire Folk Choir is a friendly, welcoming adult choir based in West Yorkshire. We sing a wonderfully varied mix of traditional and contemporary folk songs from Yorkshire and around the world.
Whether you've sung in a choir for years or are an absolute beginner and have never sung in public before, you're very welcome.
There are no auditions and no previous singing experience is needed.

Folk Singing for Everyone
We believe singing should be enjoyable, inclusive and open to everyone.
Our members come from all sorts of backgrounds and have different levels of musical experience. Some are experienced choir singers; others are discovering group singing for the first time.
What brings us together is a love of music, singing and good company.
We rehearse together, learn new songs each term and enjoy performing at local community events and festivals. There are also opportunities to socialise with other members, although there's never any pressure to take part.
You don't need to read music. You don't need to audition. You just need to enjoy singing.

You might be surprised at just how diverse the world of folk music is!
Our repertoire includes everything from beautiful Celtic ballads and spirituals, to rousing sea shanties and lively traditional folk songs that you can't help singing along with.
Whether we’re performing at local festivals, community events, or intimate gatherings, our aim is to create an uplifting folk music experience for choir members and audiences alike.
A Choir With a Yorkshire Heart
Yorkshire has a rich tradition of folk music and singing, and we're proud to be part of that tradition.
Although our repertoire reaches far beyond Yorkshire, our choir is rooted in the local community. We welcome singers from Leeds, Bradford, Dewsbury, Wakefield, Huddersfield and surrounding areas.
We've already enjoyed performing at local community events, festivals and celebrations, including a charity event in Batley, the Dewsbury Food Festival and Christmas in Dewsbury.
We've also had great fun recording our music at St Austin's Theatre in Wakefield.
As our choir grows, we're looking forward to bringing even more folk singing to communities across West Yorkshire.

Learn Together
Our rehearsals are friendly and supportive, with new songs introduced throughout the year. You don't need to read music - we'll help you as you go.
